Fresno Chaffee Zoo Tropical Rain Forest Exhibit Fresno, CA  The exhibit is 20,000 square feet and is completely enclosed by a fine mesh screen. The screen is suspended from towering poles which soar 55 feet into the air to create a free-flowing and natural environment for an abundance of plant and animal species found primarily in South America.

Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens Los Angeles, CA The Los Angeles Zoo has a number of rain forest exhibits, including the Red Ape Rain Forest Exhibit.

Denver Zoo Tropical Discovery Denver, CO  The indoor rain forest at Tropical Discovery at the Denver Zoo was eleven years in the planning and building. It features waterfalls, tropical riverbank, mangrove swamp, cypress swamp,  tropical marsh and world's largest indoor Komodo dragon exhibit.

Smithsonian National Zoological Park Amazonian Habitat Washington, DC  Amazonia, the largest and most complex exhibit ever built at the National Zoo, opened to the public in 1992. The 15,000-square-foot rainforest habitat of the exhibit includes a cascading tropical river and a 55,000-gallon aquarium for the display of Amazon River fish.

Butterfly Rainforest -Florida Museum of Natural History Gainesville, FL  The Butterfly Rainforest at the Florida Museum of Natural History is dedicated to research and education about butterflies, moths and global biodiversity. The Butterfly Rainforest is a four-story, outdoor screened enclosure with waterfalls, a walking trail, lush subtropical and tropical plants and hundreds of live butterflies.

Tampa's Lowry Park Free Flight Aviaries Tampa, FL  The Free Flight Aviaries are a sub tropical rainforest exhibit that is home over over 50 species of birds and  features Red-legged Honeycreepers,  Purple Swamp hens, Toucans and  Blue Bellied Rollers.

Zoo Atlanta Ford African Rain Forest Atlanta, GA The Atlanta Zoo's tropical rain forest exhbit is the Ford African Rain Forest.

Honolulu Zoo Tropical Rain Forest Honolulu, HI An open air exhibit, the Tropical Rain Forest at the Honolulu Zoo features animals and plants from rain forests around the world

Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo & Gardens  Hilo, Hawaii  The Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo & Gardens is the only natural tropical rainforest zoo in America. On 12 acres, it is home to more than 80 animal species included the endangered Nene (Hawaii State Bird) and over 100 species of Palm trees.

Audubon Zoo Jaguar Jungle New Orleans, LA  The innovative Jaguar Jungle exhibit brings together the animals, people, environment and culture of the Mayan civilization in a jungle rainforest setting, including  Spider monkeys, scarlet ibis, a sloth and the most sacred animals in Mayan lore, jaguars.

Franklin Park Zoo Tropical Rain Forest Dorcester, MA  A tropical rain forest experience that includes western lowland gorillas, mandrills, capybaras, Baird's tapir, pygmy hippopotamus, and dozens of free-flight birds.

Minnesota Zoo Tropics Trail  Apple Valley, NN  Tropics Trail is a multifaceted exhibit showcasing plants and animals from tropical rain forests from around the world, including Madagascar and New Guinea.
Como Zoo Park Tropical Encounters  St. Paul, MN  The Como Zoo Park Tropical Encounters is a $2.1 million exhibit is a total immersion experience which allows guests to visit an authentic neo-tropical rainforest and explore the relationships between plants and animals.

Henry Doorly Zoo Lied Jungle Omaha, NE  The world's largest indoor rain forest exhibit, the Lied Jungle has 123,000 square feet of floor space with 61,000 square feet of planted exhibit space, 35,000 square feet of display management area and 11,000 square feet of education space. The Lied Jungle is 80 feet tall, about the same as an eight-story building and features three different rainforest habitats from Asia, Africa and South America.

Bronx Zoo Congo Gorilla Forest and JungleWorld Bronx, NY  This huge 6.5 acre African rain forest environment has more than 300 animals, including one of the largest breeding groups of lowland gorillas. It is the most spectacular exhibit ever created at the Bronx Zoo. The Bronx Zoo also has a world class JungleWorld exhibit -an enormous indoor Asian rain forest.

R.J. Reynolds Forest Aviary at the North Carolina Zoo Asheboro, NC  The R. J. Reynolds Forest Aviary at N.C. Zoo displays unique plants and birds from rainforests around the world, and within its walls, more than three thousand gorgeous tropical plants and dozens of exotic birds recreate the wonders of a tropical forest

Cincinnati Zoo Jungle Trails Cincinnati, OH  A recipient of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association’s prestigious exhibit award in 1994, Jungle Trails sets the rainforest stage through detailed sculpture and murals, a wild soundtrack and a plethora of exotic plants and animals. Endangered primates such as orangutans, gibbons and bonobos are the highlights of the trail and can be viewed from both indoor and outdoor areas.

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo - The Rainforest Cleveland, OH  The RainForest showcases more than 6,000 plants and over 600 animals from the jungles of Asia, Africa and the Americas. This unique two-acre, two-level exhibit is one of the largest of its kind in the country.The RainForest's naturalistic settings include a 25-foot waterfall, a research hut, the Discovery Center, a tropical rainstorm exhibit with thunder and lightning effects, a weather station and other interactive exhibits.

Columbus Zoo and Aquarium African Forest Powell, OH  A world class exhibit focusing on African rain forests.

Oklahoma

Tulsa Zoo Tropical American Rain Forest Tulsa, OK  A recreation of Central and South American Rain Forests. The exhibit iouses many exotic species including the black howler monkey, toucanets, anaconda, piranha, dwarf caiman, and jaguar. A backdrop of pre-Columbian ruins enhances the indoor/outdoor habitat for jaguars.

Oregon Zoo African Rain Forest Exhibit Portland, OR  Completed in 1991, bats and a variety of tropical birds and waterfowl live in this tangle of lush vegetation. In the Bamba du Jon Swamp building, visitors experience tropical thunder, lightening and a torrential downpour that passes over endangered slender-snouted crocodiles, lung fish and frogs.

Pittsburg Zoo Tropical Rain Forest Complex Pittsburg, PA  A steamy indoor rainforest houses more than 90 primates from all parts of the globe, including cotton-top tamarins, orangutans and one of North America's largest western lowland gorilla troops. A hundred and fifty different plant species from three equatorial regions of the world create an exotic jungle environment.

The National Aviary Pittsburg, PA  The National Aviary, as part of its presentation of birds from around the world, also has many tropical rain forest habitats.

Roger Williams Zoo Park Tropical America Providence, RI  The RWP Tropical America exhibit features a canopy sky-walk and a lush, rainforest atmosphere complete with free-flying birds and several species of primates.

An all indoor rain forest exhibit featuring over 400 live animals, representing over 130 species.

Moody Gardens Rain Forest Pyramid Galveston TX  One of the world's greatest rain forest installations, the Forest Pyramid at Moody Gardens is a 10-story Rainforest Pyramid where birds, tropical fish and mammals share the lush environment with exotic plants from the rainforests of Africa, Asia and the Americas.

San Antonio Zoo Amazonia San Antonio, TX  A  lushly planted outdoor area, encompassing a large segment of the zoo's waterway, is home to more than thirty species of tropical animals and many types of tropical plants including orchids and bromeliads
